ECTMIH 2017 – 10th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health
October 16-20th 2017
This biennial event is patronized by FESTMIH, the Federation of European Societies of Tropical Medicine and International Health, and took place in Antwerp, Belgium.
The main objective of ECTMIH is to provide a platform for state-of-the-art updates and recent breakthroughs in the field of tropical medicine and global health. ACCESS-SMC presented a poster titled “Transforming the malaria landscape: results from a three-year implementation research project expanding access to seasonal malaria chemoprevention in seven Sahelian countries (ACCESS-SMC).” Based on predictions of incidence of malaria and malaria mortality using the Imperial College Malaria model, and assuming SMC treatments have at least 80 percent efficacy over one month, results from the poster estimated that ACCESS-SMC averted about 6 million cases of malaria and 37,000 deaths.
The 10th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) brought together scientists and experts from Europe and from all over the world, including many delegates from low- and middle-income countries.
